Pastor: Bishop Douglas M. Anthony, Sr.

Bishop Douglas M. Anthony, Sr. was born July 7, 1956 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is one of four sons born to the late Elizabeth and Lewis Anthony. Bishop Anthony attended the Norfolk Public Schools where he graduated with honors from Booker T. Washington High School. He was awarded several academic scholarships and an Army ROTC Scholarship from Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina where he also graduated with honors. Upon graduation, Bishop Anthony was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and less than one week later he was married to his college sweetheart, Dorseen Bolden. They have one son (Douglas Jr.) and two daughters (Elisha and Sarah).

The Lord blessed Bishop Anthony with a beautiful army career and now he works as a Senior Program Manager and Senior System Engineer. Although he was stationed at various locations around the world and not saved, he would always return to Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ whenever he and his family came home on vacation. In 1987, the Lord pricked his heart and he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ in Portsmouth, Virginia. Less than one month later, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Pentecostal Lighthouse Church of the Apostolic Faith in Huntsville, Alabama where he was stationed.

In 1992, the Lord instructed him to return home and he has been at Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ ever since. He was ordained a Minister in 1994, was elected President of the Brotherhood in 1997, ordained an Elder in 2001, and ordained a Bishop in 2009. Bishop Anthony has been faithful in all areas of service to include driving the church van for many years. He was a faithful Armor-bearer to his former pastor, the late Bishop Alfred P. Bolden, Sr., who entered into eternal rest December 15, 2007. Bishop Anthony has received the mantel to continue the work of the Lord and the Apostolic Doctrine at Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ, Portsmouth, Virginia.
